Soccer For a Cause was a fundraising event organized by #EFAO last August to raise funds for our friends from Playonside, a non-profit organization helping Burmese migrant children in the Thai-Burmese border town of MaeSot.
Thanks to our wonderful and generous EFAO community, we raised US$795!
As part of our soccer program, we aim to provide meaningful opportunities for our children to grow as players and individuals with positive values and attitudes in and out of the soccer pitch. To this end, last March 2022, we decided to connect and support a non-profit organization based in Thailand -PLAYONSIDE - where EFAO Digital Manager, Mariano Zuk, has been involved for more than six years and is currently one of the PlayOnside ambassadors in Japan.
SOCCER FOR A CAUSE
EFAO provided 3 FREE SESSIONS of 2 HOURS open for players aged 7 to 15 to collect donations to support the current emergency needs in MaeSot, such as purchasing food, medicines, and other necessities as the number of refugees and migrants continue fleeing across the Thai-Myanmar Border ( Read more here).

On August 25th, PlayOnside received our donation, made a "Thank You" video to show their appreciation, and briefly explained the current situation in the Thai-Burmese border city of #Maesot and how they plan to use EFAO donations to support their activities.

On August 30th, PlayOnside was awarded by the United Nations as one of the new official Football For the Goals members. This new initiative provides a platform for the global football community to engage with and advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals.
Congratulations! We look forward to collaborating with PlayOnside and hopefully traveling to Thailand next year!
